Cruelty-Free Beauty – A Guide to Vegan and Organic Products

in Organic & Vegan Beauty

Selecting cruelty-free and vegan beauty products can help lower your environmental impact while simultaneously showing support for animal welfare issues and ethical concerns in the beauty industry.

Cruelty-free refers to products designed without animal testing; however, it doesn’t guarantee that the ingredients were obtained via ethical sources or are free from animal testing.

Embrace a compassionate and sustainable beauty routine.

As demand for cruelty-free beauty products increases, finding cosmetics that reflect your ethical beliefs becomes easier than ever. Plus, with safer ingredients you’ll experience a more natural glow!

One of the primary advantages of adopting a cruelty-free beauty routine is reducing demand for products tested on animals and therefore lessening animal suffering, while also cutting waste from animal carcasses and laboratory testing that may damage our planet.

Searching for PETA, Vegan Society or Leaping Bunny certification logos will quickly help you identify cruelty-free products. But bear in mind that products labeled as cruelty free may still contain animal-derived ingredients like beeswax, carmine, allantoin glycerin honey lanolin squalene or ambergris.

Many cruelty-free companies prioritize sustainability by reducing waste and conserving resources, so eco-friendly packaging and organic ingredients are often present in their beauty products. And you can reduce further your environmental footprint by choosing plant-based cosmetics.

While there are plenty of vegan products on the market, certain brands have always been committed to being cruelty-free from day one and don’t include animal products in their formulas. Some even go as far as using upcycled banana agri-waste to cut climate change-causing food waste – making these green alternatives great options for those wanting to be green without changing up their entire beauty regimen.

Vegan

Cruelty-free cosmetics offer more than ethical benefits; they’re also better for your skin and the environment. Companies that prioritize cruelty-free beauty use safer ingredients that may lessen irritation or other adverse reactions in their formulations – making cruelty-free beauty products gentler on your skin and less likely to trigger adverse reactions.

Choose cruelty-free and vegan brands can also reduce your environmental impact. Many cruelty-free companies make an effort to use eco-friendly packaging and source ingredients sustainably and ethically, which in turn can help to minimize waste while conserving natural resources.

Unfortunately, labels like “cruelty-free” or “not tested on animals” aren’t governed by any government agencies; therefore these claims could mean anything. A product might be cruelty-free but still contain animal-derived ingredients like lanolin from sheep wool or squalene from shark liver oil (both used in our Nurme range).

The best way to accurately identify vegan and cruelty-free products is to look out for products bearing the Leaping Bunny logo on packaging. This program, led by Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics, ensures that products have been certified as 100% cruelty-free. When shopping, use Leaping Bunny App while on sale to easily check which items have been certified.

Organic

Organic skincare is an environmentally-friendly approach to beauty that uses products derived from plants, minerals or microbes without synthetic chemicals or artificial flavors or fragrances. All ingredients used are ethically sourced and cruelty-free as part of its ingredients list.

If you decide to incorporate organic products into your routine, be sure to look out for brands with the Soil Association COSMOS Natural logo and read their label before selecting one. This ensures they adhere to stringent standards without performing animal testing; and their products won’t contain ingredients such as mineral oils, silicones, drying alcohols and chemical sunscreens. Drunk Elephant stands out by adhering to both Leaping Bunny and PETA approval standards while never including what its founder calls the Suspicious 6-essential oils, drying alcohols chemical sunscreens chemical sunscreens fragrances or dyes into its formulations-such as Lala Retro Whipped Cream and C-Firma Fresh Day Serum being best picks.

Numerous brands claim they are vegan, yet upon closer examination their ingredients reveal they may not all be. Lanolin found in your lipstick may have come from sheep wool while the squalene found in an anti-ageing serum may come from shark liver oil – it’s important to stay informed! Luckily some top cruelty-free brands such as wet n Wild, CoverGirl and other similar companies have confirmed they are indeed vegan.

Ethical

Ethical beauty refers to products which have been responsibly sourced, produced, and packaged – such as using organic ingredients instead of those potentially damaging your skin and supporting fair trade practices. Furthermore, this practice ensures no animal-derived ingredients or those tested on animals end up in finished products.

Assuring yourself of cruelty-free cosmetics is easy. Just look out for products bearing either the Vegan Society or Cruelty Free certification logo on packaging; many beauty companies also employ scientific methods relevant to human health and safety without conducting animal experiments, such as in vitro testing using actual human cells and tissues, computer modelling techniques or trials with human volunteers.

In order to qualify as ethical, your beauty products must not contain ingredients tested on animals or support animal-derived products such as beeswax or honey, nor be sourced from areas which contribute to deforestation or endanger wildlife.

There are various ethical beauty brands on the market, such as Faith in Nature. Faith in Nature provides natural skincare products suitable for all skin types. Their products use an abundance of naturally-derived ingredients and have been certified Vegan and Carbon Neutral; furthermore they sell them in glass or stainless steel packaging that can be reused; all manufacturing takes place within 400 miles to reduce carbon emissions.
